About Schalamar 55+ Retirement Community Lakeland FL. We are set in a quiet, wooded neighborhood. Schalamar Creek has all the advantages of a small town, with the excitement of Orlando and Tampa just 45 miles away.

Orlando is famous for its theme parks including Disney World, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Universal Studios. Fine shopping is also available with The Mall at Millenia and Orlando International Premium Outlets; both offering upscale shopping and great bargains.

Tampa also offers excellent shopping at the International Plaza and Hyde Park Village. Feeling adventurous? Try a day of fun at Busch Gardens theme park or site seeing at the Ybor City Historic District. Ready to relax in the sun? The Gulf Beaches are world renowned for their pristine white sand.

The area is a baseball enthusiast heaven for watching spring training games. Several teams have their spring training camps within an hour or so drive. Spend the day rooting for you favorite teams including the New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies and Detroit Tigers.

Local shopping options in the Lakeland and Winter Haven area is convenient with the Lakeside Village and the Eagle Ridge Mall nearby. Grab the girls and go out for a day of pampering.

The Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center was named a “High Performing Hospital” in seven different field specialties in the 2024-2025 US News and World Report. The specialties include the fields of COPD, heart attack, heart failure, maternity care, hip replacement, knee replacement and colon cancer surgery.
